Check Scanners: Every 2000 Scans or at least 1—2 per month

FIC : 1 x per day or every other day

Dust, ink and debris can cloud the optical lens causing bad scans. This can make an auto-mated system into a manual entry system increasing pro-cessing time, cost of operation and customer dissatisfaction.

Dirty Device Symptoms

  • Poor print/image quality
  • Misreads
  • Failure to read
 

Card Readers/ATMs: Every 1000 swipes or at least 1—2 X per month

Clean more frequently after high use like weekends.

Cleaning should be done more frequently, when devices are located in areas that are exposed to weather conditions, especial-ly during seasons that are prone to an abundance of rain, dust, salt and sand.

Currency Counters: 1 x per week

Money is exceptionally dirty and can cause device misreads, counting inaccuracy and opera-tional failure if not cleaned properly or regularly. Failure to clean currency counters fre-quently can cause bill slippage, unbalanced ledgers and tally shortages.

Screens and Monitors: As Needed

Screens, especially touch or sensitive screens, should be checked daily for fingerprint and grime build up. Not only are dirty screens the cause for slow or inaccurate transac-tions, but they can also cause customer perception to be that of a poorly run branch or facility.
